When Walter Bryan Bourland was born on December 3, 1896, in Texas, his father, Aurelius, was 34 and his mother, Scena, was 30. He married Dora Mae Gore in 1918 in his hometown. They had four children during their marriage. He died on August 7, 1980, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 83.
