Dorothy O. Burton, age 90 of Rockwall, TX, passed away November 14, 2011. She was born October 11, 1921 in Van Zandt County, TX, to Dow & Ida (Ayers) Waggoner. Dorothy had been a medical secretary and retired from Radiology Associates in 1986. She was a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church in Abilene, TX.
Dorothy is survived by her sons: Gary Burton & wife Valerie of Arlington, TX, and Ricky Burton & wife Margaret of Rockwall, TX; daughter: Shirley Thompson & husband George of Lubbock, TX; brother: Dee Wayne Waggoner of Vernon, TX; sister: Drucella Rogers of Vernon, TX; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Snooks Burton; three brothers; four sisters; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held 3:00pm, Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel, 1801 Houston St, Vernon, TX, with Rev. Ron Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Wilbarger Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice .

When willie earl Burton was born on October 13, 1918, in San Angelo, Texas, his father, George, was 31 and his mother, mamie, was 31. He married Dorothy Oleta Waggoner on December 31, 1940. They had three children during their marriage. He died on July 19, 1993, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 74.
