Son of Josiah W. and Elizabeth Jane Rainwater. Worked on the Panama Canal project as a receiving teller, chief bookkeeper & paymaster for several years. Returned to the states and took up farming, cotton buying, running a general store, banking, real estate and insurance. Father of 5 children by his wife, Gertrude Alice Caughron.
