When Marion Thomas Haire was born on February 25, 1879, in Monroe, Kentucky, his father, William, was 31 and his mother, Martha, was 32. He married Amelia Elizabeth Tooley and they had one son together. He also had two daughters from another relationship. He died on December 9, 1966, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 87, and was buried there.
