When Fred Charles Schwede was born on February 19, 1891, in Weimar, Texas, his father, Carl, was 28 and his mother, Anna, was 23. He married Jessie Melvina Toliver on January 18, 1914, in Haskell, Texas. They had six children in 11 years. He died on March 1, 1976, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 85, and was buried there.
