Della Annie Davis Brooks, 93
Died: Friday, January 07, 2011, in Coahoma, Texas
Della Annie Davis Brooks, 93, of Loop, died on Friday, January 7, 2011, at her daughter's home in Coahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Loop Baptist Church, Loop, with Brother James Shelton, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Loop Cemetery.

She was born on March 6, 1917, in Borden County, Texas and married Barton Howard Brooks on December 23, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1970.

Della grew up on the farm on the Colorado River with 11 brothers and sisters and moved to the farm in Loop in 1955. She enjoyed spending time with her family; gardening, raising roses, tomatoes, black-eyed peas and chartreuse sweet potato vines; quilting, making close to 50; going on the bus with the Loop Senior Citizens; drinking coffee with her friends and re-telling the story of the rattlesnake bite when she was 91. She was a member of the Loop Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Christene and Isaac LaRue of Coahoma and Nancy and Richard Dickerson of Stonewall, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Beverly Brooks of Mesquite; eight grandchildren, Bobby LaRue, Ginger King, Charles LaRue, Denis Brooks, Jay Brooks, Connie Wallace, Robert Dickerson and Della Crawford; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Lura Perry of Vincent.

She was also preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, Rosa Cotton, Marshall Davis, Mildred Skelton, Esther Miller Peeveyhouse, Johnnie Graham, Bethel Graham, Ruth Bryant Morgan, Gilmer Davis, Pearl Ford and Melton Davis and one great great grandson, Kelby Howard Cox.

The family suggests memorials to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P. O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
