When Ollie Patterson Haynes was born on January 23, 1906, in Soddy, Tennessee, his father, Lott, was 35 and his mother, Laura, was 32. He married R. L. Haynes in 1924 in Wilbarger, Texas. He died on September 15, 1996, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 90.
