LOOP…..William Edward Hand passed away Monday, April 8, 2019 in Lubbock. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 13 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church in Loop. Interment followed in the Loop Cemetery with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seagraves.

William was born August 26, 1935 in Loop to Eric and Leona Hand. The family moved from Loop to Carlsbad, New Mexico when he was in the 2nd grade. William moved back to Loop and graduated from Loop High School in 1954 at midterm and joined the United States Air Force. He was in the Air Force for eight years serving in Korea and Germany. He came back to Loop to help his dad at Loop Auto Supply. In 1993 he closed Loop Auto Supply and went to truck driving school. He drove a truck until 2003. William then retired and started traveling. He enjoyed getting in the car with his wife Venita and aunt Marine and just driving.

William is preceded in death by his parents Eric and Leona Hand; his step-mother Gwendolyn Hand; his son Richard ”Rick” Hand; two sisters Margaret Hand and Doris McDowell; and his brother Gene Harty.

William is survived by his wife Venita Hand of Loop; his son Rodney “RW” Hand of Canon City, Colorado; his daughter Lynn Hand Amstead of Lubbock; grandchildren Will and Hannah Hand; a sister Helen Cunningham of Missouri; Andrea Schmidt and Joe of Lubbock; Johnny Hand and Louvena of Seminole; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
