AIRMAN FIRST CLASS US Air Force
August 9, 1934 - March 3, 2017
James Clyde Barber passed away at the age of 82 on March 3, 2017, at his home in Portland, Texas. James was born on August 9, 1934, in La Blanca, Texas and his parents were Virgil Young Barber and Georgia Lillian Ransom.
He enlisted into the United States Air Force on July 20, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas. His final rank was Airman First Class (E-4 was A1C from April 1952 until October 1967).
James married Alta Rae Renfroe daughter of Nicholas Harry Renfroe and Orpha Doris Moore on July 27, 1962, in Edinburg, Texas.
He was predeceased by his youngest son, Robert Charles Barber, on January 10, 2016, in Austin, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Alta, and his two oldest sons James Lawson, and Jeffrey Paul. He is also survived by five Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
His memorial service was held at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery on March 31, 2017, in Corpus Christi, Texas at 1:00 PM Central Standard Time. His cremated remains were placed in the crematorium.
