Memorial services for John Moffatt, 85, of Seminole were conducted Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the M.S. Doss Community Chapel with Ray Young officiating, assisted by Rev. Marvin Gregory and Leo Copeland. Services were under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. John passed away Friday, January 29 in Seminole.

John was born January 26, 1931 in Artesia, New Mexico to Albert and Bettie Ruth Moffatt. He served in the United States Army and was a Baptist. He grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Seminole in 1947. John and Jean Flippin were married September 10, 1970 in Tahoka. He had been employed by the Seminole Sentinel for many years before opening Seminole Printing Company in 1982. He was a member of the Seminole Lions Club since 1971, volunteer weatherman since 1963, and in 2009 John was named the Keenager of the Year.

He was preceded in death by a son James Moffatt in 2006, a brother, Marion Moffatt and a sister, Anna Lee Williams.

John is survived by his wife, Jean Moffatt of Seminole; a son, John Welch Moffatt of Seminole; and one brother, Carrol Moffatt.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests special memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hope Lodge, 3511 10th Street Lubbock, Texas 79415
