CROSBYTON (Special) — Services for Lee Suther, 73, of Crosbyton will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnnie Williams, a retired Methodist minister of Lubbock, and the Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor of Olton First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Suther died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997, at Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital.

He was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Albany. He married Mary Watson on Jan. 15, 1944, in Lubbock. He was a member of Crosbyton First United Methodist Church, where he taught the Opportunity Sunday School Class and served as past chairman of the board of stewards. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge. He helped organize the Crosby County Livestock Show, and he was a member of Crosbyton Lions Club. He served as a Lion boss in 1966 and 1967. He served as a Crosby County commissioner from 1966 to 1970. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and he moved to Crosbyton from Lubbock in 1956. He graduated from Texas Tech.

He was a farmer and entomologist, and he moved to Crosbyton as Crosby County agent, serving eight years. He also worked with DeKalb and Frontier Seed Company as a salesman.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brent of Iowa City, Iowa; two daughters, Sharon Brumelle of Odessa and Brenda Barrett of Seminole; a brother, Milton Roy of Vancouver, Wash.; and three grandchildren. ©Lubbock Avalanche Journal, March 1, 1997
