A celebration of life for Richard Dean Thornbury, age 64 of Seminole, will be held Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Gaines County Cemetery (South) at 3:00 p.m.

Richard (Rick) was born in Wichita, Kansas to Mary and J.B. Thornbury on February 25, 1952.

In his early years, he played football for the Seminole Indians and gave many residents their first haircuts at Thornbury's Barber Shop. Rick enjoyed the outdoors, the cool weather among the mountains of Wyoming while he lived there, and the holidays with his family. Anyone who knew Rick knew how much he loved his family and his dogs.

Richard Dean Thornbury passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at his residence after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Johnna Crossland and her husband, Michael of Midland and M. Michelle Kelley of San Antonio; one brother, Gary and his wife Rebecca of Victoria; three beloved grandchildren, Hunter and Grant Crossland of Midland and Caroline Kelley of San Antonio and one niece, Lexie Thornbury of Victoria.

In lieu of flowers or cards, Rick's family requests donations in his name to the Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals at 4200 N. Fairgrounds Road, Midland, Texas 79705.
