Funeral services for Allen Sanders, Sr., age 84 of Denver City, Texas, will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Denver City, with Superintendent Johnny Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Denver City Memorial Park. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Chapel of Denver City, in association with Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
Mr. Sanders passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Yoakum County Hospital in Denver City following an extended illness. He was born December 30, 1926 in Carthage, Texas to Sarah (Whitaker) and William Sanders. He married Eloise Ingram in 1945; she passed away in 1969 following a motor vehicle accident. In 1971, he married Mary Daniels on June 8 in Carthage.
Mr. Sanders was a member of the Church of God in Christ. He enjoyed working, fishing, and attending church. He had a tremendous love for children and they were drawn to visit with him. Mr. Sanders was an excellent handyman, doing all the work himself.
Allen Sanders, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eloise; one son, Harold Sanders; one grandchild; two brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by: his Wife Mary Sanders of Denver City, Texas; 6 daughters Yvonne Goss & husband Daniel of Marshall, Texas, Gwendolyn Roberts & husband Kirthell of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Ella Faye Green & husband Calvin of Mesquite, Texas, Kaye Sloan & husband Clayton of Irving, Texas, Terry Jones & husband Harold of Forney, Texas, Lois Jean Daniels of Carthage, Texas; 7 sons Kenneth Sanders & wife Patty of Forney, Texas, Allen Sanders, Jr. & wife Judy of Forney, Texas, Stephen Sanders of Dallas, Texas, Phillip Sanders & wife Garee of Kaufman, Texas, Sedrick Daniels & wife Diane of Allen, Texas, Andrew Daniels of Denver City, Texas, Kenneth Daniels & wife Muriel of Balch Springs, Texas, and numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
