V. C. Snodgrass, Jr., age 85, of Denver City died May 31, 2007. He was a member of the Denver City Church of Christ.

He was born April 9, 1922, in Lubbock County, to Gertrude and V. C. Snodgrass, Sr. He spent the early part of his life on a farm in the Acuff community where he also attended school at Roosevelt.

V. C. served three years in the U.S. 8th Air Force, 125th Bomb Group during WWII; two of those years he was assigned to Bassinborne Air Force Base in England.

He married Betty Jo Thorp on Nov. 2, 1947. They moved to Dell City in February of 1951, where V. C. was engaged in farming for 48 years.

V. C.'s interests and services include 25 years on the Hudspeth County ASCS Committee, 11 years on the Dell City ISD Board of Trustees, three years on Dell Telephone Coop Board of Directors and three years on the Board of Directors for Rio Grande Elect. Coop in Bracketville. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Jake, Loyd, and Charley Snodgrass and two sisters, Peggy Jones and Ruby Grimes.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Denver City; four sons and their families, Brent and Terrie of Lubbock, Lindsay and Annette of Dell City, Brian and Karen of Seminole, Chris and Kim of Lubbock; 11 grand children; six great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Denver City Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007. Burial will be in Denver City with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.

Memorials can be made to New Mexico Christian Children's Home, Portales, New Mexico.
Family will receive friends at Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, June 3, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. Legacy. com
