Vernon Gail Trent, 85 years old, of Midland, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2018.
Vernon was born in Coleman, Texas on September 21, 1932. He graduated from Odessa High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Vernon was married to Sarah Grimes on December 29, 1953. They were married 46 years until her death in 1999.
Vernon worked as a plant operator for El Paso Natural Gas for 35+ years. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and building jigsaw puzzles. But most of all he loved The Trent Family Reunions in his role as patriarch of the Trent family.
Vernon is preceded in death by his wife Sarah, granddaughter Mary Auld Guenther, parents Herman Orris and Mirtle Ava (Younglove) Trent, brother Orris Wayne Trent, and twin sister Verlene Minter.
Vernon is survived by Keith and Carol Trent of Shallowater, TX., Jim and Vickie Auld of Midland, TX., and Karla and Donnie Ford of Kilgore, TX. One sister Wanda Grizzell of Sugarland, TX., 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16th at Ellis Funeral Home, Midland, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17th at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Auld officiating. Burial will follow at Denver City Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.elisfunerals.com.
