Funeral services for Lonnie Roy White, 88, of Denver City, were conducted Wednesday, April 28, at 10:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Butler officiating.
Interment followed in the Denver City Memorial Park with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
Mr. White passed away Monday, April 26, 2010 in Denver City. He was born February 9, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Tom and Rosa White.
He married Helen Edwards in Mt. Pleasant on June 14, 1940. Lonnie served in the U.S. Navy from May 6, 1943 to December 9, 1945.
He worked as a branch manager for the Fidelity Oil Company until his retirement. Lonnie was a people person.
He liked to fish and work in his yard. Lonnie was a member of the Denver City Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife, Helen White, in 1998. He is survived by two daugh¬ters, Wanda Lacy, of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Shelia Pierce of Denver City; a brother, Thomas White of Arlington, TX; a sister, Margaret Harlow in Washington State; three half-brothers, Billy White, Gordon White and Orville White all of Odessa; a half-sister, Shirley French of Odessa; three grandchildren, four great-grand¬children and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: Richard Jones, Leland Tucker, Raymond Gilstrap, Reggie Gilbreath, Dennis Warren and Danny Benson.
Honorary pallbearers were: members of the Denver City Volunteer Fire Department, Lee Kidd, Lewis Welch, Clarence Reed, J.R. Slentz and Jackie Watkins. Ratliff Funeral Home.
