December 21, 1919 - February 28, 1942
James was serving aboard the USS Houston, CA-30 when it was attacked and sank in Sunda Strait off the coast of the South Pacific. He was buried at sea due to his body not being recovered when the ship sank. This Veteran marker is in memory of him.
