Raymond A. McQuary, 98 of Lubbock passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in the City of Lubbock Cemetery with Chaplain Van Webb officiating, under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
He was born April 26, 1908 in Bartlett, Texas to Lucy Jane and Thomas Allen McQuary. The family moved to Lubbock County in 1920. He married Jewel Irene Gleason on Aug. 10, 1929 in Clovis, NM. She died in Dec. 1981. They had three sons, Bill McQuary (died Sept. 17, 1989), James McQuary (died Dec. 15, 2006) and Gene McQuary of Lubbock. He married Betty McNeely on Aug. 30, 1982 in Lubbock, where she still resides. He was in the sign business for many years starting in the 1930s. He owned and operated Mack Signs that served Lubbock and area towns. In earlier years, he was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene, and remained active in spreading the gospel and promoting Christianity.
Raymond is also survived by 15 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
