DARROUZETT - John "J.W." McGee, 74, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, in Perryton.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with Dan Carter, pastor of the church, and Joe Stepp, pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Perryton, officiating. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.

J.W. was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Darrouzett, Lipscomb County, at the home place of Kiowa Creek in a two-room house.

On Aug. 5, 1949, he married his wife of 58 years, Fern Hamilton. J.W. was owner and operator of M&P Welding for 25 years. After selling his welding business, he was a contract pumper.

His hobbies were farming and running a few head of cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wesley and Mary Martin McGee; a brother, Charles B. McGee; and a sister, Beulah Sorenson.

Survivors include his wife, Fern; a son, Charlie McGee and wife Mary of Amarillo; three daughters, Sheri Holman of Cody, Wyo., Rheva McNeely and husband Jim of Follett and Sharla Anderson and husband Rodney of Logan, Okla.; a brother, Tom McGee and wife Leone of Booker; three sisters, Bea Henderson and Gertrude Rinker, both of Wichita, Kan., and Janice Graves and husband Elmer of Hathaway Pines, Calif.; a very special brother-in-law, Harry Hamilton of Neptune, N.J.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.

The family suggests memorials be to Ochiltree General Hospital, 3101 Garrett Drive, Perryton, TX 79070.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
