April 18, 1935 - January 13, 2023

Graveside services for Bobby Carl Williams, 87, of Seagraves, will be held Saturday, January 21st at 12:00 noon in the Seagraves Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Homes.

Williams was born the 5th of nine children to Bertha Childress Williams and Carl Williams on April 18, 1935 at the family home in the Draw Community of Lynn County, Texas. He attended Draw-Redwine School until the family moved to Tahoka. In high school Bobby played football for the Bulldogs and met a tall basketball-playing young lady, Jane Shepherd. He made sure his team elected her as Football Queen. After high school they married March 4, 1956 in the Grassland Methodist Church. The couple moved to Seagraves (The last farm frontier!) in Gaines County following their marriage and raised their family there. Jane was fond of saying "we moved here as soon as we could so why leave?" Bobby loved to work and felt that everyone else should as well even if they were over 70 years old! He loved the smell of freshly turned soil, the physicality of oil field work, the technicality of the trucking industry and the 'Salt Mines' at Cedar Lake. His retirement years were filled with maintaining the family farms and lots of coffee time whenever he found a coffee pot and willing talkers.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, his parents and siblings: Juanita Bueermann (John), Bill Williams (Georgie), Fred (Slick) Williams (Vera), Lena Killman (Perry), Jerry Williams, Donald Gene ("Shorty") Williams and Richard Williams; nephews: Bill Bueermann ("Little Bill"), Garland Williams and Gregg Williams; in-laws: Lynn Davis, Margie Conway (C.W.), Beth Chapman (Ferman/"Granny") and John Shepherd (Frances).

Survivors include: daughter Bobbie Jautaun Williams of Lewisville, sons John Whitney Williams and wife Deanya of Lubbock and Joseph Allen Williams and wife Pam of Hamby; Grandchildren: Eric Williams and wife Taysha, Crescenda Uhles and husband Michael, Austin Williams and partner Sarah and Haven Williams; three Great-Grandchildren: Cooper Williams, Camdyn Williams and Mack Henry Uhles; Sister, Patricia (Susie) Davis; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Williams, Nancy Williams, Glenda Williams and a host of nieces and nephews.

Following the service the family will gather at the Loop Community Building for a meal and visitation. Everyone is invited.
