George Alexander, Jr, 90, of Brownfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2016 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Pastor Brant O’Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 -2 PM at the funeral home. George was born on December 23, 1925 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to George Alexander, Sr. and Ida Violet Jordan Alexander. He was raised in Jackson County, Oklahoma and graduated from Odell High School in Odell, Texas in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a boxer in his earlier years. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He married Mary Faye Lowrey on September 4, 1974 in Monahans. While in Monahans, he had worked as a police officer. They moved to Brownfield in 1971 from Monahans. George worked as an operator and foreman for Ozark-Mahoning of Penwalt Corporation in Monahans and Brownfield for 28 years. He loved to fish and hunt. He especially loved to hunt with his family and friends in the El Capitan Mountains near Ruidoso New Mexico. He was a member of the Brownfield Senior Citizens Center and Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003, his parents, brother, Kenneth Alexander, sister in law, Betty Alexander, and brother in law, Corbett Wein.

George is survived by his daughter, Vlinda Link and husband, George, of Andrews, 2 grandchildren, Cathy and Nathan Gray and their children, Hailey and Hannah, of Andrews and Jon and Tricia Link and their children, Rylee and Cooper, of Abilene, 2 sisters, Julia Dean Nance and husband, Charlie, of Denton and Alice Ann Wein of Pecos, many beloved nieces and nephews, 3 stepdaughters, Sherlyn Sherrin of Brownfield, Georgie Bruner of Brownwood, and Vickie Gayle of Denver City, 4 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren.
