W. H. (Bill) Franks, Sr. 87, of Andrews passed from this life on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Monahans Managed Care Center in Monahans, Texas. He was born in Midland, Texas on January 16, 1924 to J. M. Franks and Florence Manuel Franks and was a long-time rancher in Andrews County.

Bill served his country during WWII in the US Navy as Seaman, First Class aboard the USS San Saba and married Bobbye Juanita Brown on September 9, 1949 in Midland. They moved to Willcox, Arizona, where he worked on the 3 Links Ranch and then returned to Texas in 1955 to the Clabber Hill Ranch in Andrews County.

Bill served his country during WWII in the US Navy as Seaman, First Class aboard the USS San Saba and married Bobbye Juanita Brown on September 9, 1949 in Midland. They moved to Willcox, Arizona, where he worked on the 3 Links Ranch and then returned to Texas in 1955 to the Clabber Hill Ranch in Andrews County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joseph M. "Joe" Franks, Jr., Rupert Franks and Joseph Hoss Franks; two sisters, Myrtle Hamilton and Opal Enloe and a grandson, Doug Franks.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Bill Franks, Jr. and wife, Patti of Kermit, TX and Michael T. Franks and wife, Mary of Lubbock, TX; one brother, Alfred Franks of Stanton, TX; two sisters, Bessie Guthrie of Midland, TX and Ila Merle Northof Crane, TX. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Dawn Poyner, Dodie Miller, Michael Franks, Andy Fires and Amy Peck; ten great-grandchildren, Gabrie, Taylor, Cooper, Maddie, Chase, Saxtyn, Bayleigh, Riley, Dawson and Luke.
