Though his headstone reads Columbus C., the following story relates a name change:
C.C. Calvin was named Christopher Columbus by his father, then his name was changed to Christopher Charles later when his mother's long-lost brother, Charles, came to visit them. The nickname "Lum" had stuck by this time, and that was the name he was known by during his life. He lived most of his life on the farm his father settled; never traveled more than 300 miles from home.
