Gene Pearson, 73, of Andrews died Monday, April 23, 2001.
He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Lamesa and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Andrews in 1960 from Pecos and married Sarah Robinson on Jan. 9, 1976, in Hobbs, N.M. He owned and operated Andrews Insurance Agency for 40 years. He had been involved in the Lamesa Jaycees. He was a member and ambassador of Andrews Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Andrews Kiwanis Club and was involved with Andrews Little League Baseball.
A son, Ron Pearson, died in 1995, and a grandson, John, died in 1999.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mike Pearson of Andrews, Mike McAlister of Lubbock and Ken McAlister of Hobbs; three daughters, Genny Moore of Canyon Lake, Barbara Hulshof of Bastrop and Penny Watson of San Angelo; three brothers, Kenneth of O'Donnell, Richard of San Antonio and Carol of Norwalk, Calif.; two sisters, Louise Adcock and Joyce Oliver, both of Lamesa; and 13 grandchildren.
