*Obituary for Penny Ada
Ada Maye (Penny) Falkenbury, 81, formerly of Denver City died Friday, February 21, 2011. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Denver City Memorial Park. Boyer Funeral Home of Denver City.

Mrs. Falkenbury passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo, Texas following a lengthy illness. She was born June 24, 1929 in Thurber, Texas to Eva (Hull) and Ray Parker. She attended various schools in Iraan and Thurber before attending school in Denver City where, in 1947, she was crowned the first "Miss Denver City."

She married the love of her life, Jake Falkenbury Jr. in Denver City on February 14, 1948. This year would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Falkenbury was a Baptist, and had a beautiful voice which she used to glorify God by singing solos when her 3 children were growing up. Her rendition at Christmas time of "O Holy Night" never failed to touch the congregation.

Before moving to Amarillo, she was blessed to sing in the senior "Joy Choir" of First Baptist Church, led by Randy Butler. She loved Randy and the members of the choir and cherished those times of fellowship.

Her greatest source of joy, though, was a devoted Christian wife, mother and grandparent.
Mrs. Falkenbury is preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her parents, Raymond and Eva Parker; a brother, Eddie; and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Penny is survived by her three children, Vickye Cagle, of Amarillo, Amanda and her husband Lowell Lay of Lubbock, and Jeff Falkenbury and wife Mary of California; four grandchildren, Tim Bowles and wife Holly, Jennifer Stephenson and husband Michael, Meranda Cagle and Christopher Davis Falkenbury; five great-grand children, Abi, Ben Jake, Tatum, Shaun, and Lillie; three step grandsons and two step-grand-daughters.
Her gentle soul will be deeply missed by remaining family and friends. Ada would want us all to remember Acts 16:31: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

The family would like to gratefully thank Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo for their compassionate and insightful care of Ada.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Olivia's Angels, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79105.
