Funeral services for Jimmy Falkenbury, 72, of Levelland, will be at 2 p.m. today in the George Price Funeral Chapel in Levelland with Rev. Bob Fred of Denver City, Texas, officiating. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. in the Denver City Memorial Park. Services are under direction of George Price Funeral Home of Levelland. He died on Friday, June 26, 2009 at his home.
Jimmy was born on May 6, 1937 in Roscoe, Texas to William Thomas (Jake) and Mary Effie Bennett Falkenbury. He spent most of his adult life working at various jobs in the oilfield. Most recently he worked for Texas Agricultural Statistics Service as an enumerator. Jimmy was an avid golfer and was looking forward to getting back on the course. He married Edwina Newcomb on September 28, 1963 in Denver City, Texas. Jimmy was preceded in death by two sisters, Mattie Mae Jones and Evelyn Ponder, and a brother, Jake Falkenbury.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Edwina Falkenbury of Levelland; three sons, Brent Falkenbury and wife Tonya of Seagraves, Brian Falkenbury and wife Diedra of Levelland and Eric Falkenbury and wife Tonya Gail of Pflugerville; daughter, Leasha Correa and husband Tito of Round Rock; three sisters, Reta Peeler of Denver City, Ruby Miles of Alamogordo, N.M. and Bill Rector of Houston; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Chorus of Angels Fund, c/o Joe Arrington Cancer Center, 4000 24th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79410, in memory of Jimmy Falkenbury.
