Obituary:
Elois Schollenbarger Phillips, 91, of Amarillo died Friday, March 14, 2008.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Travis officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Darrouzett Cemetery in Darrouzett by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

Addie Eloise Schollenbarger Phillips was born March 9, 1917, in Ivanhoe, Beaver County, Okla., to Maggie A. Sumners Roper and Iverson Monroe Roper. Lois moved to Darrouzett at an early age and graduated from high school there. She was a charter member of Darrouzett Methodist Church. Lois married George Schollenbarger on June 8, 1935, in Guymon, Okla. During World War II, George and Lois operated a dry cleaning shop on the Army Air Corps Base in Liberal, Kan. After the war, they bought a dry cleaning shop in Clarendon.

Lois and George were both active in the community for the 30-plus years they lived there. They moved to Wilburton, Okla., to be near their daughter for 18 years before moving back to the Texas Panhandle.

Lois married Boyce "Friday" Phillips on Nov. 21, 1999. Lois and Friday enjoyed traveling, cruises, dancing and playing poker.

She was preceded in death by her mother; two sisters; eight brothers; her father and stepmother who raised her from age 5; her first husband, George, on Jan. 18, 1996; a granddaughter, Bliss Bain; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Survivors include her husband, Boyce Phillips; a daughter, Kay Schollenbarger Bain and husband Robert; three stepdaughters, Dani Patten and husband John of Little Rock, Ark., Jan Winkler and husband Marty of Las Cruces, N.M., and Angela of Dallas; a son, G.K. "Butch" Schollenbarger; a sister, Velma Cross of Amarillo; two brothers, Roy Roper of Flower Mound and Vernon Roper of Italy, Texas; a sister-in-law, Betty Gibson; five grandchildren, Scott Bain, Todd Bain, Leigh Bain Baldwin and husband Danny, Chris Schollenbarger and wife Teresa and Connie Schollenbarger Longan; five great-grandchildren: four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
