Herschel Armstrong, 92, of Andrews passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. A visitation will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 6-8 PM at McNett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2014 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Herschel was born August 16, 1921 in Gainesville, Texas to W.J. and Florence Armstrong. He proudly served in the US Navy. He married Nancy Newman Pittcock on September 22, 1981 in Andrews. Herschel was a longtime resident of Andrews and he served on the Andrews City Council for 4 terms. He was a pumper for Mobil Oil for 38 years. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling. He loved his sons and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in May of 2009; brothers Vernon Cotton Armstrong and "Jiggs" J.W. Armstrong and his parents. He is survived by his sons; Kent Armstrong and his wife Kathy of Portland, Texas; Kevin Armstrong and his wife Shannon of Dallas, Texas; Kelly Armstrong of Andrews; grandchildren, Alex Armstrong of Portland, TX; Jason Armstrong of Andrews; Adam Armstrong of Andrews and Samantha Boyd of Lubbock; great-grandchildren, Braydon and Sevon Armstrong; nieces, Donna Mayes, Stacy Patton and nephew, Jack Armstrong. www.mcnettfuneralhome.com
