*Obituary
Rex Darnell Barton, 85, of Andrews, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in Andrews, Texas.

Rex Barton was born November 21st, 1926 in Gilmer, Tx, to the parents of Carson and Jenny Barton. The youngest of 2 sisters, and 2 brother's growing up in the 1930's definitely had its challenges for Rex. He worked in the crop fields with his family as a young boy, and always made the best of whatever situation he was given. Little did he know though at just the age of 10 he had already met the love of his life. After serving his country 2 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II he would marry that love, Jo Nell Simmons-Barton. They were married on December 1st, 1945, and they never looked back.

Thru the tough times, and always more good times, Rex and Nell have spent the last 67 years side by side. He worked hard upon his return from the Navy as an employee of the Texas-Pacific Railroad, but spent most of his working day's as part of Seismograph. Starting as a driller, he worked his way up to becoming the Party Manager.

Rex, "Papa's" true testament to life though was always the life he spent with his family. The family began with the birth of the first of two children, Sharon Kay Barton on September 25th, 1948. Four years later Rex and Nell would share the birth of their "baby", Larry Don Barton on November 3rd, 1952. To those who have had the blessing of being a part of his life, Papa "Rex" was clearly what the definition of what a family man should be.

Rex has survived by his loving wife, Jo Nell "Nanny" Barton. His daughter Kay Barton, and husband Quoc Nguyen. His son Don Barton, and wife Daisy. He was the proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

We will miss you more than words can say Papa, but thank you for the love and support that will surely last the rest of our lives.
