DENVER CITY (Special) Services for Henry Ben Unger, 80, of Denver City will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home. He died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born April 10, 1920, in Giddings. He married Elza East on March 14, 1940, in Wichita Falls. She died Aug. 11, 1990. He served in the 49th Infantry during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He retired as a pumper for Conoco Oil after 42 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Denton and Benjy of Ozona; a daughter, Linda Hornberger of Artesia; three brothers, Herbert of Maybank, George of Burkburnett and Don of Lake Kiawa; four sisters, Viola Hightower of San Francisco, and Juanita Ritchie, Anna Bell Woolsey and Rose Marie Husfeld, all of Bowie; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
