David L. Conaway, 75, of Andrews, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 in Midland.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Monday, September 11, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Strambler, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 10th, from 5-7 PM at McNett Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the personal direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. David was born on November 19, 1941 in Palestine, Texas to Melton C. Conaway, Sr. and Ella Mae Helser. He was raised in Lamesa and graduated from Lamesa High School. After graduation when he was only 17, he moved to Houston. He met his wife, Brenda Sue Gray, and the two were married on January 2, 1985. He owned his own landscaping business and successfully ran it for 26 years. In 2001, when his father fell ill, he and his wife moved to Andrews to care for him. David loved to golf and would be on the golf course every day that he had the opportunity. He was a member of the West Texas Golf Association and a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Houston. He and Brenda were active members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Andrews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his wife, four sons; Kevin and wife Gwen Conaway of Pearland, Andre and wife Tina Conaway of Missouri City, Christopher Conaway of Andrews, and Fred Harris of Beaumont; two step-children; Carl Ellison of Whitesboro, and Kimberly and husband Robert Billingsly of Marion, Illinois, two brothers; Melton Conaway, Jr. of Andrews, and Mack and wife Kim Conaway of Las Vegas, Nevada, two sisters; Mary Ridge of Lubbock, and Elizabeth Harris of San Angelo, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
