Obituary:
Betty Ann (Shawler) Terrel, 91 year old resident of Perryton, Texas departed this life on June 20, 2016. She was born on July 17, 1924 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to William Jennings and Irene Mary (Bergman) Shawler. Betty was one of four children in the Shawler family.
After graduating high school, Betty attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. A high school classmate introduced Betty to Austin "Dean" Terrel while he was in flight training in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple was married in Hobbs, New Mexico at the Hobbs Air Force Chapel on September 22, 1945. Betty and Dean moved to Darrouzett, Texas in January 1947 and relocated to Perryton in 1968.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband A.D Terrel in 1995; and her siblings, William Linsey Shawler, DDS and Janice Jean Shawler. She is survived by her sister Nancy Lee Vander Voort of Fairfax, VA; her children, Jeffrey W. Terrel, MD of Bellville, TX, Philip D. Terrel and wife Karen of Darrouzett and James A. Terrel and wife Janet of Cedar Creek, TX; grandchildren, Quentin Terrel, Brooks Terrel Annis and husband Andrew, Eric Terrel, Matthew Terrel and wife Jackie and Martha Elizabeth Terrel; and three great grandchildren.
