"Century Club"

Dbl stone w/Auburn Guymon Watson

Hazel Emma (Speyers) Watson was born on February 27, 1911 on the family farm in Beaver County, OK to William "Watt" and Lorena Lo (Wade) Speyers. She was the second of six children; Hazel attended school in Beaver County and graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, OK.

Hazel started her teaching career when she was just eighteen years old; she taught in numerous one room school houses in the Oklahoma Panhandle, Booker, Darrouzett, and Lipscomb, Texas. Hazel loved her students and could still name most of them; her teaching career spanned thirty eight years and many students.

In the late 1930's a friend introduced her to a handsome cowboy named Auburn Guymon Watson; though World War II interrupted their romance they corresponded and upon his return they were married on July 25, 1946 in Elkhart, Kansas.

Hazel was a member of the Church of Christ and most days you'd find her reading her bible, crocheting, or waiting on a game of Skip-Bo.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Darrouzett Cemetery with Bob Taylor officiating. Services were under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service Booker, TX.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband A.G. in 1971 just two months before their twenty fifth wedding anniversary; her parents Watt and Jo Speyers; two sisters Mabel Helen and Leone; and a brother Mike.

Survivors include: a daughter Marilyn LoAnn Outhier; two grandchildren Jason and Serena Outhier of Eagle River, Alaska, and Jacy and Jason Sautter of Liberal, Kansas; six grandchildren Elena, Alia, and Kylie Outhier; Jacob and Jadan and Jordyn Sautter; special friends Fern Howard, Susan Wheatley, Irene Gensman, Donna Laubin; her family at Twin Oaks Manor; and a host of friends.
