Obituary:
Alice Doreen Watts, 89, transitioned from this life on October 7, 2018 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Doreen was born November 24, 1928 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Elijah Leaburn Murphy and Alice Lillian Murphy.

She had an adventurous spirit from a young age, traveling with her family from Saskatoon to a homestead northwest of Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. At age 18, Doreen moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to further her education as a medical technologist. From Minneapolis, she took her first job in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Doreen continued her career in several locations, retiring from Schumpert Medical Center on May 16, 1990.

It was in Shattuck that Doreen met her future husband, Weldon Eugene Watts, and they were married April 7, 1950. They had three children, Alicia Beth Watts (husband Matt), John Lea Watts (wife Sybil), and Weldon Eugene Watts Jr. (husband Dean). After retirement, Doreen continued to live a life of adventure by traveling to numerous places across the globe. She was active in many aspects of her church, First United Methodist Bossier.

Doreen was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Allan, Lea, and Stewart; and sisters-in-law Marjorie and Rita. She is survived by her children and their spouses; sister, Joyce Sulatycky; along with numerous nieces and nephews from the extended Murphy and Watts families.

Doreen’s wish to be cremated and for her ashes to be placed next to her husband in Darrouzett, Texas; with her parents in the Pioneer Cemetery in Look Lake, Saskatchewan; and at the family homestead on Murphy Lake, Saskatchewan is being honored by her children. It is during those times that celebrations of Doreen’s life will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Bossier.
