William "Bill" Magee, 85, of Mart, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2006, in a Temple hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, at Littlepage Funeral Home with Dr. Travis Summerlin officiating. Burial will follow in Mart Cemetery.

Bill was born in Ben Hur, Texas, to the late William Thomas Magee and Exine (Vaughan) Magee. He was reared and educated in Ben Hur, graduating from Ben Hur High School in 1936. On May 22, 1941, he was married in Waco to Monette Angela Freeman.

During World War II, Bill served with the U.S. Army. Since 1960 he had lived near Mart, where he farmed.

While he lived in Mart, Bill was actively involved in Mart and Waco organizations. A longtime dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Mart, he served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and administrative board member. For many years he was a trustee of the Mart School Board. In Mart, he was also a member of the Mart American Legion and the Mart VFW. In Waco, he was a past chairman of the board of the Waco Production Credit Association, past president of the McLennan County Farm Bureau, and a member of the PrimeTimers of the County Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Marion Magee and Buddy Magee; and sister, Mary Medsger.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Monette Magee, of Mart; sons, Gary Magee and wife, Elise, of Mart, and William Dale Magee and wife, Martha, of Mission; granddaughters: Becky Magee, of Mission, Mandy Whiteaker and husband, Greg, of Clyde, and Anna Sunday and husband, Jermy, of Mexia; great-grandsons: Colton, Andrew, and Lance; brother, Jack Magee, of Clear Lake; other relatives and many friends.
