Lou was born in Indian Territory, I found no record of when she moved to Young County.
Some say her father James Lawson McDaniels was arrested 11 November 1861, and spent the entire Civil War in prison for refusing to sign repatriation papers. Though no reason was offered for his arrest, I believe he must refused to fight against the South, since he was in the U S Army when the war started.
Family history also says that Lou's grandfather Benjamin A Todd was second cousin to Mary Todd Lincoln.
