Ola Mae Bazemore, 88, of Mart, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007, in a Waco hospital. Services will be at 3 p.m., Monday, May 7, at Littlepage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mart Cemetery.
Ola Mae was born in Limestone County, Texas, to the late Add and Mae Hand. She was reared and educated in the Ben Hur area. Taking a lively interest in history and politics, she enjoyed recalling a time when she was part of a significant event. On December 7, 1941, she and her first husband were stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed.
On April 26, 1968, she married Derrell Bazemore and they lived in Norfolk, Virginia, in what was her home prior to their marriage. An excellent photographer, she operated her own photography business, Mae's Studio, in Norfolk, Va. Following Derrell's death in 1983, she moved back to Mart where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her nephew, L.D. Johnson, of Mart; nieces: Linda Horn, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Billie Jo Bell and Shirley Dillon, both of Waco; and numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
