*Obituary

Sidney R. (Randy) Day was born on Oct. 24, 1954 to Horace and Doris June (Hungerford) Day. He entered heaven and a joyful "Family Reunion" on Friday, May 10, 2013.

Throughout his childhood, Randy's family moved often as they followed his dad's work in the oilfields. As a result, he and his sister, Betty Sue, formed a strong bond and friendship that continued throughout adulthood.

Randy enjoyed all aspects of fishing and camping from the time he was a young boy. If anyone was willing to go, Randy was ready! Even when his cancer was in an advanced stage, Randy was still making plans to hook up his camper and head to the fishing hole. He especially enjoyed fishing and visiting with everyone at the family reunions.

Willie Nelson was another one of Randy's pleasures in life, and he was always ready for a "Willie" concert. At the last count, he had attended well over 20 of Willie's concerts.

When he was in the fifth grade, Randy was saved at First Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas. His Uncle Mutt called him up to the choir loft during a revival and shared the love of Jesus with him. Randy opened his heart and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior that very night.

Randy kept the faith and was such an inspiration to all during his brave battle with cancer. He had tremendous support from his place of employment, G & H Controls in Andrews, and from his many Andrews friends. Thank you, Andrews, for your kindness and concern. As a patient at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa and Hospice House in Odessa, Randy received excellent, compassionate care. Thank you to all of his medical support team. Randy's big extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews were also faithful to pray, help and encourage Randy during his illness. Thank you to each of you.

Randy is survived by his mother, Doris June (Hungerford) Day, his nephew, Don McBeth (Kathy), his great nieces and nephews and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. His dad, Horace Day; his sister, Betty Sue Day McBeth; and his niece, Christy McBeth Hallum preceded him in death.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
