Services for Mrs. Grace Ladine Davis Rodgers, age 87, a longtime resident of Garden Valley are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Dr. James Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindale City Cemetery. Mrs. Rodgers died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in a Tyler hospital.
She was born October 17, 1917 in Collin County, Texas to Edward and Hannah "Mamie" Davis. Grace was the youngest of four children, graduated from Emory High School, and was a left-handed All State Basketball player for the Emory Kittens and had offers to play professionally. She married J. T. "Jake" Rodgers, Sr. on January 22, 1938 in Lone Oak, Texas and had an active life on the farm with her husband and lived there until her death.
Grace was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lindale for over 60 years and was very active in the Busy Bees Quilting Group. Quilting was her passion. Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, J. T. Rodgers, Sr., her parents, sisters, Barbara Zorn and Alma Felty, and brother, R. V. Davis.
She will be truly missed by all of her family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Felty, Kenneth Felty, Howard Felty, Kenneth Casstevens, Jerrell Casstevens, and Tommy Holt Zorn. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home.
