ROCKDALE OFCICIAL FOUND DEAD SATURDAY
J. Branch Lewis, 67, city secretary and tax collector for the City of Rockdale was found dead in his office early Saturday morning. Near the body of the dead official was a large callibre pistol.
Justice Leo Harris rendered a verdict of suicide. Lewis was found by a night watchman. The City Council in Rockdale had ordered an audit of the books of the collector. Lewis was believed to have been short in his accounts with the city.
The body of the dead official was buried there Sunday.
