Jewell Jordan DeWitt, age 81, of Garland, Texas, beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on January 9, 2016. She was born January 29, 1934 in Greenville, Texas to Austin and Florence Jordan. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Jan DeWitt, Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine in Garland; her twin sister, Joyce Jordan of Shreveport, Louisiana; 3 nephews; a niece; many cousins and many friends. Jewell was a beautiful woman of great style and substance with a style that could light up any room. She is preceded in death by her mother and father and her older brothers, Al and Knox Jordan. She graduated high school in Winnsboro, Texas and moved to Dallas, spending most of her adult life in Irving before retiring and moving to Garland to be closer to Jan. She loved her family, she loved to laugh and she was the queen of every room she ever entered. Her reign on Earth was too short and she is greatly missed already. The visitation for Jewell will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 12 o’clock noon on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Following the burial there will be a reception in the L.N. “Bill” Sparkman Family Lounge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choosing.
