DENVER CITY-Funeral services for Craig Dale McPherson, 66, of Denver City, will be conducted Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John McLean officiating. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Park with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City. Mr. McPherson passed away Jan. 31, 2017.

Mr. McPherson was born on March 12, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas, to Clifford Dean McPherson and Margaret Mabel Hauskins McPherson. Craig graduated from Denver City High School in 1968. He was in the first Denver City FFA Chapter and served as president in 1968. Mr. McPherson served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1969 to 1971 on the DMZ Zone. Craig married Holly Shelton on March 21, 1975 in Vernon, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1975 with a degree in Animal Science and worked on his Masters in Animal Husbandry. Craig owned and operated Denver City Farm and Chemical for over 20 years and raised cattle and farmed. He was a member of the Denver City Rotary Club and he loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1976; and a daughter, Kelly Kay McPherson in 1992; his father-in-law, Holloway Shelton; and sister-in-law, Judy McPherson. He is survived by his wife, Holly McPherson of Denver City; two daughters, Kristy Deaton and husband, Duff of Denver City and Margaret Jane Harvey and husband, Lee of Menard; his mother, Margaret M. McPherson of Denver City; two brothers, Michael McPherson and wife, Janie of Denver City and Rand McPherson and wife, Georgette of Ransom Canyon; one sister, Kathy Isenberg and husband, Carlton of Wellington; and four granddaughters, Kelly Ann Deaton, Klaire Deaton, Madison Harvey, and Karsyn Spicer. Pallbearers will be: Duff Deaton, Lee Harvey, Jimmy McGill, Billy Pat Peacock, J.P. Senter, and Cody Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Steve May, Alan Peters, and Michael Terrell. Family Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Feb. 2, 2017, at Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
