DENVER CITY (Special) - Services for Roy Akin, 85, of Denver City will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Bob Webb officiating.

Burial will be in Denver City Memorial Park under direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Akin died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, in University Center in Lubbock.
He was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Rosston. He moved to Denver City from Monahans in 1951. He married Johnnie Smith on April 19, 1941, in Alvarado. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and he was a mason. He was a member of the Yoakum County Golf Course.
He worked for Amoco Oil Co. as a gauger.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Wilmot of Cayuga and Jennifer Marlow of Mineola; a brother, Ray of Gainesville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. www.boyerfuneralhome.net

DENVER CITY (Special) Services for Johnnie Akin, 79, of Denver City will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Webb officiating.

Burial will be at Denver City Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.

She died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at East Texas Medical Care Center in Tyler.

She was born Nov. 29, 1920, in Egan. She married Roy Akin on April 19, 1941, in Alvarado. He died in 1998. She was a homemaker. She moved to Denver City in 1951 from Monahans. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Denver City. She was a member of the Joy Chorus of the First Baptist Church and The Quilters.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Wilmot of Cayuga and Jennifer Marlow of Mineola; two brothers, Jack Smith of Dallas and F.J. Smith of San Angelo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. www.boyerfuneralhome.net
