Luther was born and raised in Florence,Texas. After his Father died his Mother moved the family to Lawton, Okla. He and the family farmed a quarter section of land with mules. He married Minnie Fields in 1927 and eventually moved off the farm into town. Luther and Minnie, with the help of friends and family, actually built their first small(Shotgun)house. The house was still in use in 1970. The address is now part of a parking lot for a strip center. Luther worked several interesting jobs then eventually went to work at Ft. Sill, Okla. Army Base. He started working in the Base laundry, and was promoted to Management. When WWII started he opened up Laundry's in Training Bases and Camps in Okla, La, and Texas. In 1945 He opened up the laundry at the MCcloskey Army Hospital(now the Olin Teague V.A.Hospital) in Temple, Tex. He retired from there in 1967 with 30yrs. service. He enjoyed 31 years of retirement. He loved to buy and drive a new vehicle, visit family, fish, R.V. travel, play games and watch sports on T.V. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Troy, Tex.
