Graveside services for Nina V. Ashcraft will be at 10:30 a.m. today, May 13, at Denver City Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Brooks officiating. Mrs. Ashcraft passed away Monday, May 9, 2005, following an auto accident in Stephens County.

She was born June 23, 1927, in Texarkana, Ark. She attended Texarkana High School. She married Johnny Ashcraft on Oct. 11, 1945. They moved to Pecos in 1948 and lived in several towns in the Permian Basin before settling in Denver City in 1956, where she was a homemaker and raised her family. She was active in the Denver City chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; and adopted son, Timmy.

Nina is survived by her daughter, Susi Bickley and her husband, Mike, of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Parker of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; grandchildren, Melanie Greene and her husband, Andy, of Austin, T.K. Harrison and her husband, Blake, of Houston, and Josh Bickley of Denton; and great-grandchild, Caroline Greene; cousin and longtime business partner, Tearl Covington and his wife, Linda; neighbors, Jim and Debbi Birkenfeld and Cody and Calli of Denver City; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Denver City or to the Melanoma Unit of M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. www.genealogybuff.com

DENVER CITY — Graveside services for H.L. “Johnny” Ashcraft, 80, of Denver City, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004, for family and friends at Denver City Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Denver City with the Rev. Steve Brooks officiating. Mr. Ashcraft passed away Monday, October 4, 2004, at his home in Denver City. Arrangements are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.

Johnny was born May 21, 1924, in Cale, Arkansas. He married Nina Autrey on October 11, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He was a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific, Scotland and North Africa with the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945. He began his oilfield career in Pecos in 1948 and worked in numerous fields in the Permian Basin before settling in Denver City. Johnny founded Production Fishing and Rental Tools Inc. in 1965. He was a member of the Denver City Masonic Lodge No. 1278. He was on the board of directors of Yoakum County State Bank. He loved fishing, hunting, golf and any competitive endeavor. A good joke on himself or someone he loved was not out of the question.

He was preceded in death by his adopted son, Timmy Ashcraft. Johnny is survived by his wife, Nina of Denver City; daughter, Susi Bickley and her husband, Mike, of Fort Worth; sister, Betty Jean Parker of Twentynine Palms, California; grandchildren, Melanie Greene and husband, Andy, of Austin, T.K. Harrison and husband, Blake, of Houston, and Josh Bickley of Denton; one great-grandchild, Caroline Greene; and his cousin and longtime business partner, Tearl Covington and his wife, Linda.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, at Ratliff Funeral Home.
