Helen Hicks passed away June 28, 2017, at a Texarkana, Texas care facility. She was 86. Helen was born December 19, 1930, in De Kalb, TX to Robert and Grace Potts Nix.
In February of 1948, she was married to Lee A. "Buddy" Hicks in Bowie County, Texas. Helen was a homemaker and a member of Austin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee A. "Buddy" Hicks; and two brothers, a Robert Nix and Allen Nix.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky Johnson of Texarkana, Arkansas; a son-in-law, Jim Johnson of Texarkana, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Nikki Mauldin of Hope, Arkansas and Taylor Johnson of Texarkana, Arkansas; one great-grandson, Caden Mauldin; and numerous other family members and friends.
Services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
