Graveside services for Donald Yates "Boone" Bowlin will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Ackerly Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Boone passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in Dawson County.
He was born on June 8, 1931 in Amarillo to Oswald and Elnie (Beck) Bowlin.
Boone married Girlene Grantham on November 29, 1961 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death in October of 1992; they were married for 30 years.
Boone served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He has farmed in Dawson County since 1952.
He is survived by his brother, O.D. Bowlin and wife, Carolin of Lubbock; nephews, David Alan Bowlin and wife, Frances of Lubbock, and John Michael Bowlin of Lubbock; niece Sarah Elizabeth Barker and husband, Jeff of Lubbock; and 6 great nieces and nephews.
Boone is also preceded in death by his parents.
