Graveside services for Roy (R.S.) Lawrence, Jr., age 89 of Seminole will be held Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Gaines County Cemetery with Dean Boyer officiating. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mr. Lawrence was born May 5, 1930 in Coolidge to Gabrella (Williams) and Roy Shelton Lawrence. He married Carrie Mae Horn in Seminole on October 6, 1992. He was a Baptist and worked as a farmer. R.S. enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening, dancing, singing, and playing his guitar. He always liked to joke around and be funny, but he was a true friend to everyone. He did a lot of home maintenance and automobile repairs and made sure to teach his children; he also talked to God and loved God with all his heart. R.S. was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family dearly and especially loved his grandchildren, his dog John Henry, and his cat and grand-dogs.
R.S. Lawrence passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his home in Seminole. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Roy Lawrence, III, and Bubby Ray Lawrence; three brothers, six sisters, and two granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife Carrie Lawrence of Seminole; three sons, Kenneth Lawrence and wife Shirley of Lubbock, Christopher Lawrence of San Angelo, and Donald Lawrence and wife Naomi of Seminole; two daughters, Rosemary Lawrence of Lubbock, and Christy Meekins and husband Oliver of Midland; three sisters, Mae Helen Johnson of San Marcos, Alma Jean Lawrence of Dallas, and Lorene Baker of Ft. Worth; 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
