W.L. (Bill) Driver spiritually departed this earth to be with the Lord his savior on Friday, April 10, 2020 at his home in Seminole, Texas. He was surrounded by his family and is survived by his wife, Joy Driver of Seminole; one son, Delbert Driver and wife Teresa of Conroe Texas; three daughters, Sharon Oliver and husband Randy of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Connie Blevins-Ellner of Seminole, and Karen Driver of Hobbs, New Mexico; one brother, Bobby Joe Driver of Big Spring, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two granddaughters.
Bill was born on November 8, 1921 in Gorman, Texas to Maude (Blackshear) and James William Driver. He married Joy Marlenee in Hobbs, New Mexico on August 2nd 1952 and they celebrated 67 years and 8 months together. Their four children were the focal point of their young life. He was a very giving person who truly cared about others. He freely gave of his time, services and money to help others and expected nothing in return. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas Company in Jal, New Mexico after 32 years of service. His favorite pastime was playing golf and dominos, hunting, fishing and telling stories of his many experiences through 98 years of life.
Graveside services for Bill Driver will be held at Gaines County Memorial Cemetery in Seminole at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, with Brother Ray Young officiating. He will be interred near his mother, father and two of his brothers. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
