Smokey was born to Lanier George and Ethel Jane (Russell) Hoherd. He graduated from Holland High School. He worked as a lineman and retired from Brazos Electric. Horses and dogs were two of his favorite things.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include daughters, Tammy Baca of Little River and Linda Castleberry of Morgan's Point; brother, George Hoherd of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and grandchildren, Christopher and Richard Baca and Melinda and Devon Castleberry.
